What is IOQM?

IOQM (Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics) is the first stage of the Indian Mathematical Olympiad programme, conducted by HBCSE (Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education). It replaced PRMO and RMO starting from 2021. IOQM consists of 30 questions worth 2, 3, or 5 marks each, with integer answers from 00 to 99.

How is IOQM different from RMO and PRMO?

Accepted Answer

PRMO and RMO were the first two stages before 2021. Since 2021, IOQM replaced both as a single qualifier exam. IOQM has objective integer answers (00–99), while RMO requires full written proofs. Clearing IOQM leads directly to RMO (now called IOQM Stage 2 in some years), then INMO, then IMO.
